Our Sea Moss

What Is Sea Moss?

Contrary to popular belief, Sea Moss (as it is affectionately known), is in fact not a moss at all. In most instances you will hear Sea Moss referred to as a specie of sea weed but in other instances you will hear it called an algae. Whatever you decide to go with…it is amazing! The type of Sea Moss to the left is commonly referred to as Chondrus Crispus. THAT IS INCORRECT! As titled above, the Sea Moss shown here is the Genus Gracilaria. This is the warm water variety usually grown in the Caribbean. The raw Sea Moss featured in our shop is wild-crafted straight from Jamaica.

Iodine in Sea Moss

The mineral that is always prominent in this seaweed is IODINE. While Sea Moss is a great source of many things…it is important to be mindful that it is very iodine rich and overconsumption can be problematic as with anything else. High Iodine levels can lead to disruption to your normal thyroid function. So, with that being said…don’t throw your Sea Moss away! Just remember, a little goes a long way so consume nature’s multivitamin responsibly.

What Are The Benefits Of Sea Moss?
